Structural and Optical Properties of Bismuth-doped Cerium Oxide Prepared at a Low Temperature

Cerium oxide (CeO2) is a functional material with excellent physicochemical properties. Its properties can be modified by doping different elements, including bismuth, which done through various synthesis methods. The precipitation method combined ultrasonic radiation was used to synthesize bismuth-doped cerium (CeO2:Bi) at low temperature of 200oC. In this study, we investigate the alteration structural and optical as-prepared CeO2:Bi subjecting it additional calcination high 500oC. were characterized using thermal gravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive X-Ray, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, UV-Visible spectroscopy. produced less significant weight-loss percentage than observed from curve. transform infrared spectrum revealed loss small number hydroxyl molecules trapped on surface when subjected. Based diffraction spectra, results in smallest crystallite size compressive strain without changed cubic crystal structure CeO2:Bi. successful Bi CeO2 confirmed composition analysis Energy X-Ray measurement. electron microscope image showed spherical agglomerated particles calcined both possessed similar trend absorption spectra almost same band gap energy. indicated that 500oC did not affect its significantly. Thus, combining an advantageous stable crystalline.
